Eurobasket Semi-Finals Preview.
Will the Final see the favorites or the first-timers ?
Spain and France are in familiar territory. But opponents Belgium and Greece are in great form, and they’re looking to extend their best-ever finishes one step further.
The winners in the first two games of tomorrow will punch their tickets for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Spain in 2018.
. Latvia will play Italy, who will be hoping young gun Cecilia Zandalasini can continue the form that has her ranked third in scoring for the tournament. Anete Steinberga has notched a double-double in all five of Latvia’s games so far.
. Slovak Republic face Turkey, who will be fighting to restore pride after they were overwhelmed by Greece in the Quarter-Finals. Slovak Republic’s hopes start with playmaker Barbora Balintova, who’s averaged almost 14 points and 5 assists per game. http://www.fiba.com

La Lettonie, au bout du suspens, bat l'Italie (68 - 67) et se qualifie pour le Mondial 2018 en Espagne, malgré une impressionnante Cecilia Zandalasini : 25pts, 14rbds, 2ctrs, 26 d'éval. http://www.fiba.com/ls/#11854&12556-33-A

La vidéo de la très contestée faute antisportive, sifflée contre Cécilia Zandalasini à 9 secondes de la fin du match alors que l'Italie menait 67-66, qui coûte la victoire aux Transalpines... A player can work for her entire life and career to be at the FIBA World Championship and then you have to say bye-bye to this goal. It's hard and as a captain, I don't know how I can say something to my team-mates because they gave everything they had."

La demi-finale de l'EuroBasket féminin entre la France et la Grèce, remportée par les Bleues 77-55, n'a pas suscité grand intérêt samedi soir sur W9 qui n'a réuni que 446.000 téléspectateurs soit une part d'audience de 2,7% de PDM. Il faut cependant préciser que cette demi-finale était également diffusée par Canal+ Sport avec Joris Sabi et George Eddy aux commentaires, accompagnés de Laurie Delhostal pour les interwiews sur le parquet.

L'EUROBASKET FÉMININ 2019 EN LETTONIE ET EN SERBIE.
Trois pays étaient candidats pour l'organisation de l'EuroBasket féminin 2019 : la Russie, la Lettonie et la Serbie. Ces deux derniers co-organiseront le prochain championnat d'Europe en se partageant le premier tour. La Phase Finale se déroulant dans la "Belgrade Arena".
La Lettonie co-organisera cet évènement dix ans après avoir organisé un Euro remporté alors par les Bleues.
Pour la Serbie, ça sera une première, même si Belgrade avait accueilli la Phase Finale en 1954 quand le pays faisait partie de la Yougoslavie.
Les matchs se dérouleront en juin 2019. Les phases éliminatoires débuteront cet automne.
